NanoMEMS Research, LLC, is a privately-held company founded in 2002, to research and develop, and commercialize novel ideas exploiting RF MEMS and Nanotechnology (thus, NanoMEMS). The company's mission is to research, conceive, develop and commercialize RF MEMS and Nanotechnology devices, circuits, systems and applications.
Dr. De Los Santos holds over 30 US, European, Japanese and German patents, and is author of bestseller books, including Introduction to Microelectromechanical (MEM) Microwave Systems (1999), now in Artech House's IPF (In-Print-Forever) series, RF MEMS Circuit Design for Wireless Communications (2002), now also in Artech House's IPF series, Principles and Applications of NanoMEMS Physics, Springer (2005), Radio Systems Engineering: A Tutorial Approach (2014), Understanding Nanoelectromechanical Quantum Circuits and Systems (NEMX) for the Internet of Things (IoT) Era, (River Publishers). His most recent book, Understanding Communications Systems Principles: A Tutorial Approach, was published by River Publishers in 2021.
His current research interests include, discovery, conception, theory, physics, computational modeling, simulation, analysis, design and applications (electronics, microwave and mm-waves, photonics, quantum computing & communications, energy, Internet of Things, etc.) of devices and circuits enabled by exploiting physical phenomena occurring down to nanometer length scales, including, plasmonics, photonic crystals, RF MEMS, and mechanical systems in the quantum regime. Recently, he has become engaged in the application of Machine Learning (Gaussian Process Regression) in various technical fields.
For three years, 2001 to 2003, he was an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer of the Microwave Theory & Techniques Society. Since 2006, he has been an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer of the Electron Devices Society. He has delivered over 80 Invited Lectures worldwide.
He is member of Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Sigma Xi. From 2010 to 2011, he held the prestigious German Research Foundation (DFG) Mercator Visiting Professorship at the Institute for High-Frequency Engineering and Electronics (IHE), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)/University of Karlsruhe (TH), Germany.
He serves as Reviewer for many Scholarly Journals and Transactions, and served as proposal reviewer for many funding agencies, including, the US National Science Foundation (NSF), the European Science Foundation (ESF), the Australian Research Council (ARC), and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
He has been recognized in Marquis' Who'sWho in the World and Marqui's Who'sWho in Science and Engineering.
Since 2019, he has been a Foreign Ph,D, Theses Examiner for several universities in India.
On 27 February 2020, he was bestowed the title of Honorary Professor by Amity University, Noida, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, India.
From 2020-2023 he has been a Consulting Editor for Book Series in the areas of RF, Circuits, and Electronic Materials and Devices at River Publishers.
His book RF MEMS Circuit Design for Wireless Communications has been translated into Farsi.
Since 2006, he is an IEEE Fellow.
